In the fall of 2020, when the Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School Bulldogs Football team faced a critical shortage of uniforms and gear due to the pandemic, the August Turak Foundation responded with a $5,000 donor match challenge. Thanks to your generous contributions, we were able to deliver a $10,000 grant, providing the team with new uniforms and essential equipment.

Our bond with the SRMH Football program has deepened, driven by the unwavering dedication of Head Coach Edwin J. Campbell Jr., his staff, and the entire community. Their commitment to nurturing excellence and supporting the young players has profoundly inspired us.

In 2021, August Turak, in collaboration with Coach Campbell, established the Coach Campbell Award to honor players who exemplify leadership, commitment to excellence, and exceptional character on and off the field. This distinguished award includes a $500 college scholarship and a beautifully crafted trophy, supported by a 20-year endowment personally funded by August Turak through the August Turak Foundation.

Edwin J. Campbell Jr. serves as the Head Football Coach and Dean of School Climate and Culture at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School. With nine years in education, Campbell began his career as a teacher’s assistant and has since accumulated extensive experience across Johnston County Schools, Wake County Public Schools, and Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. His passion for fostering positive school environments and building strong relationships with students underscores his dedication to selflessness and leadership. A proud alumnus of Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School, Campbell remains deeply connected to his alma mater. His selfless approach to education and coaching embodies the transformative power of service, inspiring others to make a meaningful impact on their communities.
